How I felt this few days.
This polar vortex affected many people. We were without electricity for 3 days then as the power came back the water was cut off. It has been 3 days without water and still we haven't got water supplies back. I haven't shower for 6 days and I felt very dirty and smelly. 🤣🤣
At this time my emotions were in a roller coaster until now but I can't show it because if either one parent in the fanily collapse then the whole family will collapse. I have to stay strong. And I am grateful that we have a roof over our head, we had food on the table and we still can afford to buy water. I really thank god for what we had. I don't have any complaints but still as a human without our normal lifestyle we will feel uncomfortable.
This taught me to use water rationally, use our food rationally and what I am grateful most of all is having Jazz beside me. He really look after our family with his heart. He went down to get snow for water to use in toilet. Then when the snow and ice starts to melt he went down with the bucket and collect the water that are running off carports. He collected at least 5 to 6 buckets. I am really grateful to have him.
We went out to get groceries but most of the basic easy food were all running out because of panic buying. There were no more eggs, bread and milk. As there are no water everyone is looking for easy food that requires any cooking and washing. I can cook but found that it will be difficult to wash the pots and pans so what did we get for food? So I get easy food that don't need water. If i were to cook i need to wash the vegetables and meat before cooking so I did not buy any fresh produce. We get frozen food like pork bun,
pot stickers. We bought many packets and pork bun for breakfast and pot stickers for lunch and dinner. We had it with rice or instant noodles.
As for water we can't get bottled water so we get bottled Japanese green tea. So for now we still have enough food and water for maybe a few days. I am keeping a positive mindset and I am keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 and hoping we'll get water back soon.
In this kind of situation I believe that having someone beside you is really important. I also believe that keeping your composure and staying calm and positive is also very important. And also giving your friends a call to ask how they are doing and if they need any help will cheer them up. This is the time to help each other to stay positive and sane. Don't blame anyone and don't feel that you have it bad as more people were in worst position than you are. This is just a natural disaster that no one ask for. Just support one another and be patience. The sun will sure rise the next day. Stay strong and positive.
